I hope they have all these little issues sorted out by the time you get yours. I’ve been seeing a few videos where owners are having all sorts of small-time issues with their brand new Defendies.

Wow, air/fuel mixture out of balance on two cylinders after 48 hours. That’s pretty bad.

I’m guessing its something stupid like a loose air hose someplace.

Hopefully the tee
thing issues are sorted, either way I’m probably going to get myself a GAP tool just because I’ve owned enough Landies in my life... heh.
That being said,
I’m thinking it might have been the elevation (given that it’s a fuel air mixture code)
.
I’d clear the fault and if it came back then I’d take it in.

TFL is a good site that are frankly Land Rover appoligist, and I mean that in the nicest way.
They go out of their way to show that Land Rovers and other vehicles with less than stellar reliability credentials (such as the VW Touareg) are not as bad as people think. That in some cases, can actually be very reliable.
So if they are having these issues and actually showing them, I absolutely believe them. They special ordered this Defender since no dealership stocked one so cheap. Hopefully it is a minor issue.

It is probably nothing, but seriously 200 miles and a check engine light ? This one will be in the shop every month. Mark my words. Tata garbage.

The first couple of model years on these was always going to be scary.

I saw one exactly like that today, will be in DOTS tomorrow. I don’t like it any better in person. It just looks like one of their typical jelly beans with some slight differences.

This was painful. It’s a very early model. You buy a brand new anything this early in it’s production run, you should expect this. Cars are enormously complicated rube goldberg devices and if something is just slightly off, this can happen. It’s not a big deal, it doesn’t make it garbage, it’s literally just an inconvenience.
Trying to cycle the key and lock the car to get the light to go out was cute, but it was never going to work. And honestly, if the car is driving fine, i.e. not in limp mode, who cares if it’s on? Because if the light had magically gone out the code would still be there. They don’t just go away on modern vehicles.
And another thing, generic scanners usually don’t read all of the manufacturer specific fault code variations and the very specific verbage that goes along with them. I would bet the generic code and description they got is only the tip of the iceberg as far as actual stored DTC information goes.
This is what warranty is for. No matter how many hundreds of thousands of hours engineering puts into working out the kinks, they will never find everything. Chances are this is just a software bug, or a minor part will need to be replaced with an updated version.
They talked about the LR3 like those are magically problem free in comparison. Hilarious. I hope this doesn't sour their experience, it really shouldn't. And for anyone turned away from buying the defender because of this, well, it was never going to be for them anyways. No modern vehicle exists without it's issues.

I would put money on it needing a simple software update.
